Since in last class we were all divided into different groups, my group had to watch 5 movies of the era 1951 to 65.
We had first started with ‘chalti ka naam gaadi’ and then we watched “howrah bridge”.
According to whatever our reviews were, we divided the aspects
( Story or narrative
Character plots
Metaphor symbolism motives
Dialog dialect song language music lyrics) and then gave individual reviews on these aspects.
Basically we have to deconstruct the whole movie and then give our own review on these 5 films, out of which two are completed. We need to give a detailed opinion about how the movie is being linked with that era, the clothing sense, the songs and many more such aspects.
It was fun watching these black and white movies as these were kind of different than the usual bollywood movies that I watch. Though the black and white cinematic characters were bit boring but overall the movie was classified as the finest comedy movies of that time.
I hope there’s something very interesting assignment coming up and this deconstruction of these old movies be worthwhile.
Thank you sir for changing our perspective towards these black and white films and making us have this different kind of vission over each and every aspect by the method of deconstruction.
