Week 5 sustainable systems

A productive day!

First of all we arranged the class benches in a way to represent seven islands for the seven groups.

Then we sticked all our charts on the wall and had group by group presentation.

Our group topic was poor sanitation. We decided to divide the topics and I got the topic of causes and problems associated with poor sanitation.

This was being compiled up with all the other group members charts. This is how it looked after being displayed on the wall.

It was a great exploration of different topics as all the groups had made 8 charts with different content. It was a slight introduction to all the problems and issues associated with the population of India.

Learning can be fun, if done in the right way.

Sometimes the display changes our perspective over certain things. If the same information would have been explained just by keeping them on table, it would have laid a different impact altogether. In the next class we are going to segregate and choose a particular arena of issue and concentrate over it majorly.

My group has decided to mainly focus on the area Kaula Bandar and M- East ward slums which are non-notified slums of Mumbai on the problems of sanitation.

I have even included a notified slum- Dharavi’s case study.
