Week 2 integrative seminar II

Italo calvino

We were all divided in groups and given specific topics. Out of which our topic was about his Political writings.

Italo calvino was an Italian journalist and writer of short stories and novels.

He was born in Santigo de Las Vegas, Cuba in 1923.

We made a mind map which included timelines and specific events listen beside it.

1943

☆Calvino fights the Germans in the Ligurian Mountain as a member of Gasibaldi Brigades.

☆ Calvino joins the Iltalian resistance.

1944

☆ Becomes a new member of Italian Communist Party.

1947

☆Graduates with thesis on Joseph Conrad.

☆Collaborates with weekly II Politecnico by Elio.

☆ Joins Communist newspaper.

☆Joins publishing house of Einaudi.

☆ writes path to the nest of spiders.

☆wins the Preio Riccione.

1948

☆Leaves Einaudi and works full time at L’Unita for the Communist weekly Rinqscita.

1950

☆Rejoins as editor at Einaudi.

1951-1954

☆Calvino journals and entries published in L’Unita.

☆Calvino writes the prologue to Pavese’s La literatura Americana.

☆ He publishes La formica Argentina.

So this was a timeline brief about his political writings.

It was really fun researching and reading the bibliography of Italo Calvino. He has really put in his life into writings. The invisible cities as far as I have read gives a deep essence of details of the city.

I personally learnt to divide the content among the group members and then work on his specific details individually. And finally we assembled and connected all the information via a mind map about his political writings.

United we stand, divided we fall.

If we wouldn’t have divided the information into parts for different members of the group, we probably wouldn’t have completed it in 2 hours. It’s really important to plan out things before execution. Things become easy when they are being divided.
